ArmstrongH MCaptainHe was killed in action at Vlakfontein on May 29th, 1901.  He was a son of Major Armstrong, late of 16th Lancers, of Morville, Warwick.  Captain Armstrong was born in December 1868, educated at Stubbington School and on HMS Britannia, entered the Royal Navy in 1884, and retired as Sub Lieutenant 1890.  He went to South Africa from Canada with Strathcona's Horse in February 1900, and was granted a commission as Lieutenant in the Devon Company of the 7th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry May 1900, being promoted Captain August 1900.  He served in Natal and ORC, and was present at the action at Belfast, being awarded the medal with three clasps.
