Gifford's Horse
BordenH LLieutenantHe was killed in action at Reit Vlei, July 16th, 1900.  He was the only son of the Minister of Militia in Canada.  He was mentioned in despatches by General Lord Kitchener, LG, September 10th, 1901, also in the despatch of September 8th, 1901, for "gallantry in action, and for stubborn fighting".  (See Lieutenant Birch)
