Eaton | William Arnold | | Captain | Of Middelburg Cape Colony, and of the Sports Club, London, was born at Lapworth, Warwickshire, April 7, 1870; is son of Canon Eaton, and was educated at Marlborough College, entering 'The Buffs' in 1890, since when he has served with the relief force in Chitral in 1895 (medal and clasp); the operations in the NW Frontier of India, 1897-8, including the action of Landakai (clasp); Northern Nigeria in 1900, when he served with the Munshi Expedition (wounded, despatches; medal and clasp); and the Boer War, 1900-02, as DAAG (Queen's and KSAs and two clasps). He was appointed Staff Captain, Middelburg, Sub. District, Cape Colony, May 27, 1904. Captain Eaton's recreations are racing and polo, and he is a member of the Jockey Club of South Africa. He married, in 1904, Miss P M Douglas, daughter of Andrew Douglas. | Staff |
