Brass | Ernest Henry | | Captain | He drowned whilst attempting to swim the Wilge River, on November 10th, 1901. He was the son of the Reverend H Brass, formerly rector of St Matthew's, Red Hill, was born in 1869, and educated at Uppingham, 1883-88, and Clare College, Cambridge. Captain Brass entered the East Yorkshire Regiment, in May 1891, being promoted Lieutenant October 1894, and Captain October 1899. He was selected for special service in South Africa in November 1899, and had acted for some time at the base at Cape Town as an Embarking Staff Officer, graded as DAAG.
