Feilden | Cecil William Montagu | | Captain | FEILDEN, CECIL WILLIAM MONTAGU, Captain, was born 13 January 1863, at Quebec, son of Lieutenant General Feilden, CMG, of Witton Park, Blackburn, MP for North Lancashire. He was educated at Eton and Sandhurst, and was gazetted as Lieutenant to the Royal Scots Greys 2 August 1882; became Captain 14 February 1891; was ADC (extra) to the Lord Lieutenant, Ireland, 2 February 1891 to 17 August 1892; ADC to the Lord Lieutenant, Ireland, 3 October 1892 to 8 July 1895; ADC to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (Lord Cadogan) 30 July 1895 to 31 October 1895; also Military Secretary to Earl Cadogan. Private Secretary to Viscount Wolseley, Commander-in-Chief, 1 November 1895 to 15 January 1897; ADC (extra) to the Lieutenant General and Governor General, Ireland, 26 January 1897 to 15 November 1899. He served in the South African War, and was created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 27 September 1901]: "Cecil William Montagu Feilden, Captain, 2nd Dragoons. In recognition of services during the operations in South Africa". He was a JP for Lancashire and Cheshire. Captain Feilden died 7 February 1902.

Feilden | Cecil William Montague | | Major | He died February 19th, 1902, from wounds received in action at Klippan, near Springs the previous day. He was the eldest surviving son of Major General Randle Joseph Feilden CMG of Witton Park, Lancashire, and Mrs Feilden, daughter of James Hosier of Mauldslie Castle. Major Feilden was born January 1863, educated at Eton and entered the 2nd Dragoons August 1882, being promoted Captain February 1891, and Major July 1901. He had served as ADC to the Lieutenant General and Genera! Governor of Ireland almost uninterruptedly from February 1891 to October 1895, when he was appointed Private Secretary to the Commander in Chief, which post he held till January 1897. He then returned to Ireland as extra ADC to the Lieutenant General and General Governor of Ireland, and held this position till he went to South Africa at the outbreak of the war. He saw much service during the campaign, having taken part in the relief of Kimberley and the subsequent advances on Bloemfontein and Pretoria, and was mentioned in despatches, LG, September 10th, 1901, and was awarded the DSO.
