Christie | Albert Edward | | Lieutenant | CHRISTIE, ALBERT EDWARD, Lieutenant, was born 3 December 1860, son of Charles Robertson Christie, of Toronto. He served in the North-West Rebellion in 1885. He again saw active service in South Africa in 1900, and was created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 19 April, 1901]: "Albert Edward Christie, Lieutenant, Lord Strathcona's Corps. In recognition of services during the operations in South Africa". The Insignia, etc, were sent to Canada, and presented to him by Miss Wetmore, daughter of Judge Wetmore. He became Major, 16th Light Horse, and served in the European War with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Major Christie married Mary Ludlow, daughter of Chief Justice Wetmore, and they had three sons and one daughter.
