Newport, ViscountHe was born in 1873, and is son of the 4th Earl of Bradford. He was educated at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge. From 1902-5 he acted as Private Secretary, to the Right Hon Arthur Balfour. Lord Newport served with his regiment, the Royal Scots, throughout the Boer War, 1900-02.
