My best find for the year was a group to a chap that missed the Boer War but found himself at the other end of the world instead.

China 1900 Trio which is a first for me. I know it's not ABW but I attach a few photo's anyway.

I'm afraid I made a glutton of myself this past year... B)

Favourites among those that I acquired would be:

- QSA/KSA/WWI to E Vede, a MM winner
- QSA to Alphonso Stott, IY who was KIA at Tweefontein
- 1853 SAGS medal (I know it's not relevant to this Forum...) to a Captain Armstrong of the 45th Regt.

Oh and there's the QSA/KSA to Loch's Horse and the Midland Mounted Rifles (Gorman)

I also acquired some medal via swaps with Forum members which had great stories attached to them. Among my favourites have to be:

- QSA to Patrick Bradley, S.A.C. imprisoned for rape among other things
- QSA/1906/WWI to Percy Gascoyne, N.F.A. - the QSA with Elandslaagte clasp.

P.S. I love them all ;)

Regards

Rory

Could I ask you to share the details and maybe a few pics please :)

Paul :)

Hello Brett,

A very nice 1-2-3 you have had a very good year :)

Paul :)

Brett Hendey wrote: My best Boer War acquisitions of the year were:

1. QSA (TH, RoL) - Trooper A R Smith, Murray's Scouts.

2. QSA (RoL) - Bearer G Doble, Natal Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Killed in action on 20 January 1900 at Venter's Spruit in the prelude
to the Battle of Spioenkop.

3. QSA (Natal) - Private F R Rowell, Maritzburg Ambulance Corps.
The medal came with its original ribbon and box of issue, as well
as Rowell's leather instrument pouch still with some of its contents.
