Many thanks, Frank. That is a very well ordered list of names. I wish the same applied to the list of 1800 Zulus that now confronts me. As might be expected, there are few, if any obviously Zulu names on the Transvaal list.

There may be other such lists of names. For example, the Bakgatla of the Pilanesberg district of the western Transvaal were evidently in well ordered opposition to the Boers, so the men involved might be listed somewhere.

I wonder if there are any reliable estimates of how many black men were involved on the British side during the war?

Regards
Brett

Good morning Brett,
I've completed the work at Kew for you, as promised and will package it up in due course, could you let me know where you want me to send it.
Regards Frank

Frank, you are very kind and I am most grateful. My postal address is on the copy of the form I sent you yesterday. If you have already deleted it, I will send it again by e-mail.

Regards
Brett
