Hi

I finally found my "lost" file on Bronze QSA's and in it some interesting data.

Mr S J Maphalala (University of Zululand) published a most interesting 6 page article "THE STORY OF COMPENSATION, SILVER AND BRONZE MEDALS FOR ZULUS AFTER THE ANGLO-BOER WAR" in HISTORIA, Vol 24 No 2 (September 1979. This could well be available on the Internet.

In the Cape Archives there is correspondence dealing with this matter which I traced in the early 1990's.
The references are:
Source DD1/301. Reference 1904 (Bronze Medals, Army Orders) 21 pages
Source DD1/301. Reference 1620/05 File (Despatch, Letter) 5 pages

At that time I was also fortunate to be allowed the last copy of the "Seale's and Armstrong Register" which recorded medals sent to two local Cape Town jewellers for alterations, naming, bar fixes, etc.
I append a scan of a very interesting page for March 1908. That gives names of 26 men of the CMR whos bronze QSA's had to be named!! Whether they were subsequently issued is not known.

David G may be able to look at the references and maybe trace some more.
