Mitford | W R | | Lieutenant Colonel | Served in the Afghan War in 1879-80 (medal), and after leaving the regular service, commanded the Middlesex Reg. of Yeomanry Cavalry for several years. Early in 1900 he took command of the XL Battalion of Imperial Yeomanry for a few months in the Boer War, after which he resumed the command of the home regiment.
