Moseley | A | | | From Bristol, he spent a great part of his life in South Africa; received CMG, and was created Knight of Grace of the Order of St John of Jerusalem in England for services in connection with the Boer War, 1900. He personally organised and conducted to the United States a Commission of over twenty Trade Unionists to inquire into conditions of wages and labour there; and a Commission of thirty Educational Delegates to the United States and Canada to ascertain and report upon the strong points of American Education. He is a strong Trade Unionist as regards cooperation and organisation of workmen, though not in favour of all that Trade Unionism does. Is a great admirer of the American practical system of education for the masses, and thinks the British have much to learn from that country on both the Educational and Industrial sides. He erected a War memorial on Plymouth Hoe to late Prince Christian Victor and the West Country soldiers who fell in South Africa, and is a member of the Executive of Mr Chamberlain's Tariff Commission.
