Head | Leonard | | Captain | He died May 11th 1900, of wounds received the previous day in action at Zand River. He was born in June 1867, and educated at Bedford Grammar School. He entered the East Lancashire Regiment February 1888, promoted Lieutenant August 1890, and Captain July 1896. He served with the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Robert Low, 1895, and received the medal with clasp. Captain Head embarked for South Africa in January 1900, and served in the 7th Division, taking part in the advance on Bloemfontein.
