[KSA (2)]

Alexander John Brown was born in Middlesex 23 November 1873. Enlisted in the CP in Kimberley 21 April 1896. Served in D2. Boer War service 11 October 1899 to 31 May 1902. KSA re-issued 28 January 1910. Prior service in the Bechuanaland Rebellion. CGHGSM (1) Bechuanaland.

QSA (1) Defence of Kimberley (613 Pte. W. G. J. Wardle. Cape Police.)

William George James Wardle served with the Cape Police in the Bechuanaland Rebellion in 1897 (entitled to a Cape of Good Hope General Service Medal with clasp), and then with the Cape Police Dismounted Branch during the Defence of Kimberley, on barrier and redoubt duties.

From the next Morton and Eden sale:

QSA (5) Relief of Mafeking, Defence of Kimberley, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1902 (401 Pte A. De Smidt. Cape Police Dist 2.).

My DoK book omits his RoM clasp. This is, however, written on the roll.

Three rim nicks and remains of brooch mounting at back of clasp.

John Bernard Petersen was slightly wounded in the arm during the Dronfield skirmish.
