Yes another "Delhi Spearman!"

3720 Pritave James Henry Horwood Lancers of the Line (9th)
James was born in the parish of St.Pancras in the city of London in 1876
He attested for the 9th Lancers in the city of London on 13th July 1894 aged 18 years and 3 months.
His trade is shown as "Packer" and at the time he had been a volunteer in the Royal Fusiliers.
His physical details are quite impressive for the time showing a height of 5ft 8" and weighing nearly 10 stones together with an expanded chest measurement of 37.5"
His religious denomination is shown as Church of England.
The next day he arrived at Aldershot, he spent 2 years and 44 days on Home service untill 26.08.96 where he did his first service abroad in South Africa.
By this time James had been appointed Lance Corporal but after 6 months reverted back to Private.
After spending 1 year and 198 days in South Africa he was posted to India were he served untill 13.10.99 then of course another trip to South Africa arrived.
This service lasted 1 year and 14 days and then it was back "Home" for 135 days another service to South Africa followed this time lasting untill 14.05.1902
James spent the rest of his service at "Home" untill he was discharged with 12 years service.
Private Horwood came through his campaigns unscathed and for his service in South Africa he received the QSA with clasps Johannesburg,Diamond Hill,Wittebergen and Cape Colony. The KSA was awarded with the standard date clasps.
His next of kin at the time was his Father John James residing at 49 Westerfield Road Tottenham London which is still standing today.
The QSA medal is engraved and I have tried to show the engraving with a few images.
Any comments most welcome

Hello Paul,
I was a little surprised to see these on the market again, so soon and in the hands of another dealer, I almost bought them last year, but, as I already have a good collection of Dehli Spearmen, I decided on something else instead, but, they are a very nice and really quite a scarce pair to what some people consider to be the finest cavalry regt of its day, I normally say to people, forget the Great War, its all number crunching, but, I say to you now, go and get yourself a good 1914 Star and Bar trio to an August man.
Kind regards Frank
