Good morning David,
Many thanks for posting the documents for my four men of the unit.
I do have another two that I would be very grateful for any information that may be available as follows:

22222-TROOPER SEBASTIAN (VALENTYN) VAN BREDA:
A cracking medal. Served with the Bodyguard and KIA and MID at the siege of Tontelboschkolk with Western Province Mounted Rifles. I have a couple of Passenger Lists for journeys from SA to UK and a bit off Family Search for his death, but nothing else.

27490-SERGEANT WILLIAM YOUNG BIRRELL:
Served with Kitchener's Fighting Scouts, Bodyguard, then Canadian Scouts (32417).
Loads of info from his farming life living near Dundee, Angus, Scotland and death notice in SA. Possible link to service with Scottish regiment in ABW, though the latter is a tenuous theory at best!

Cheers Steve

An interesting unit that came to an unfortunate end - worth writing up.

I produced a roll of the original bodyguard selected for Lord Roberts which is attached to this blog .
