This example, lacking top and bottom suspension bars, has been languishing on eBay since 15 Feb 2024.

Engraved: RONALD E. KAY / K.D.F.

This appears to be R.E. Kay of the Post and Telegraph Department.

Excuse the poor photos, but these are the only ones that have been provided by the vendor.

Item no. 256451993284, eBay Australia, BIN $1,230 AUD; £626.53 GBP.

Pictures courtesy of Spink

[ QSA (1) KTG ];
Kimberley Star, 'a', (H. T. Strugnell') engraved.

Spink say Harry Thomas Strugnell is understood to have been born at Stroud circa 1860 and went out to South Africa around 1883. He was a member of the Kamfersdam Company of the Kimberley Town Guard and later became involved in local affairs. In later years he was a keen member of the Kimberley Society and designed the bookplate for the local library besides penning The Spirit of the Mountain - an historical pageant for the Union Exhibition of 1909. Together with old letter related to the recipient and a photograph of him.

Spink say this is a Boer War photograph but it looks later to me. This is not a 40 years old man.
