Thanks for the information.

Here is his handwritten note on the photograph for [Bean?] & Hutton:

You are correct; there is no Bean but there may be 2x options:

Option 1:

Option 2:

I'm going for Option 2 - what do you think?
Speak my name so that I may live again

Here is his handwritten note for Robert & [Friend?]:

Having a look at the roll I think I may have transcribed it incorrectly; perhaps he should be Frieud:

What do you think?
Speak my name so that I may live again

In Part 3 we were introduced to "Botha" of Bretts Scouts as follows:

Botha of Bretts Scouts innoculating for Rinderpest.
Botha is a brother of Paul Botha who died at Kroonstad in August and whose funeral Genral Knox and the [x] attended.
Holfontein November 1901

I have manged to work out that "Paul Botha" is the author of the book:
From Boer to Boer and Englishman (translated into English by his son, Advocate C.L. Botha)
Author & Book Publication, January 1900
Kroonstad, Orange River Colony, South Africa

Here is his death certificate which ties-up exactly as our photographer had stated:

Their father was Lourens Rasmus Botha (1806-1887) who famously took part in the Battle of Blood River on the 16th December 1836.

Looking at the Botha family tree and the medal roll for Bretts Scouts we are able to put a name to "Botha"; namely

Hendrik Frederik Botha
Private, HF Botha, 105 Brett's Scouts
24 November 1846 – 1918

The year earlier he had been captured on his farm:

Always great to put a name to a person.
Speak my name so that I may live again
