Lygon | Hugh | | Lieutenant | He was killed at Karree Siding, near Modder River, north of Bloemfontein, March 23rd, 1900. He was the second son of the sixth Earl Beauchamp. His mother was Lady Mary Catherine, daughter of the fifth Earl Stanhope. Lieutenant Lygon was born July 1873, educated at Eton and entered the Grenadier Guards from the 4th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment June 1894, being promoted Lieutenant November 1897. He was appointed adjutant to his battalion November 1899. He went to South Africa in October 1899, and joined the Kimberley Relief Force. He was wounded at the battle of Modder River, November 1899. Lieutenant Lygon was Deputy Lieutenant of Worcestershire.
