West | Archibald Vivian | | 2nd Lieutenant | He was killed in action at Rensburg, January 1st, 1900. He was the only son of Lieutenant Colonel Frederick West, and grandson of Admiral Sir John West, GCB. He was born in June 1876, and educated at Allhallowes School, Honiton. He served in the ranks for over four years, and was granted a commission in the Royal Berkshire Regt in August 1898. 2nd Lieutenant West was with his battalion in South Africa when war was declared, and served in the north of Cape Colony until his death.
