Mills | Egremont John | | Captain | MILLS, THE HONOURABLE EGREMONT JOHN, Captain, was born 4 September 1866, third son of the 1st Baron Hillingdon. He served in the South African War, 1900-1, with the Imperial Yeomanry, taking part in operations in the Orange Free State, March to May 1900; operations in Orange River Colony, May to 29 November 1900, including action at Biddulphsberg; operations in Orange River Colony, December 1900. He was mentioned in Despatches [London Gazette, 10 September 1901]; received the Queen's Medal with four clasps, and was created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 27 September 1901]: "The Honourable Egremont John Mills, Captain, 11th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry. In recognition of services during the operations in South Africa". He was invested by the King 29 October 1901. He was promoted to Major. He was apartner in the firm of Glynn, Mills, Currie and Co. In 1917 he married Florence, only daughter of A Hozier.
