Kirk | Maurice Wrottesley | | Captain | He was killed in action at Spion Kop, in the operations on the Upper Tugela, January 24th, 1900. He was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Kirk, and was married to Mabel Eleanor, daughter of J J Tufnell. Born April 1866, and educated at Haileybury, he entered his regiment from the 3rd Battalion The Buffs, November 1887, and was promoted Lieutenant December 1889, and Captain November 1897. Captain Kirk embarked for South Africa, November 1899, with his battalion, which on arrival was sent to Natal, where he served with the Natal Field Force until killed.
