Posts on the Ancestry Notice Board suggest Douglas Henry was born on 11 April 1882 in St Kilda, Victoria and worked as a warehouseman. He appears to have died in an accident soon after the Boer War.

David
According to the OZ-Boer site, Douglas Henry DARE was born in 1879 and was a Lance/Sgt. with 5VMR's Left Wing. He would have been able to tell us a lot about Wilmansrust. His name is recorded on a Plaque in St.Kilda State School, Victoria as one who had served. No details of his demise.
5VMR QSAs turn up very occasionally, here. Far from common.
Best Regards
IL.

Many thanks, IL.

I contacted the person who had posted on ancestry and he came back to say that DH Dare lived long after the War and that his grand daughter, Ann, was living in Durban (as at 2015).

I am hoping to obtain more details on Douglas Henry.
