LOL Ian,
Okay, so no beer, how about medals, did you find any of those?
Regards Frank

No, it did not. However, I was able to revisit my favourite Storm Bay Merlot (a very crisp red) on several occasions; as well as dining on the local cuisine! With Stephen, it was only coffee! Tasmanian beer (Cascade and Boags) is lager-like and served cold.
David, forgive the off-topic bit!

Unfortunately, no. Very little down there; although I did get some nice pics of items in the Anglesea Barracks museum. Here in OZ you have a better chance with the big dealers.

Perhaps this should be titled "a bit of an update"!
As Frank says, our 1301 Pte. F.W.Edwards of 5VMR was indeed on the unit's Left Wing at Wilmansrust. Well, the unit made up for it afterwards. However, what got the topic to my attention was when I was searching for some info on oz-boer database and up came a series of newspaper illustrations of the members of 5VMR. Better still, the small individual portraits were numbered and with some more searching I was able to identify our Pte.F.W.Williams as number 791 (4th from the RHS, bottom row) on the attached photo. First appearing in the Melbourne Leader of 16021901, the run apparently identified all of the 5VMR members. I tried to enlarge the pic; however the original was not too good and it certainly lost a lot the more it was enlarged.
Nice to put a face to a medal.
Regards
IL

A chance find for me yesterday was this QSA to 1431 Sgt D[ouglas] H[enry] Dare of the 5th Victorian MR.

He is also entitled to the SA01 and SA02 clasps.
