Gentlemen
Herewith a pic of a QSA/KSA pair I obtained some time ago. I can resist anything but temptation!
QSA impressed to "33644 Gnr:D.Morgan, R.G.A.". KSA impressed to "33644 Gnr:D.Morgan. Pom Poms Sec: R.A.". Both medals have had a bit of a hard life; however, Brasso in impressed naming shows they were loved at one time.
I had the pair researched by the esteemed peterinkent and the medal roll for Pom Poms Secn, RA clearly shows RofM entitlement. At one time he served at the Pom Poms Depot. The KSA roll also indicates he served with 6th Coy, Western Div, RGA. Unfortunately, no personal papers were located.
I admit to liking the RofM clasp and "With Seven Generals in the Boer War" by Major Pollock contains several references to the two Pom Poms in action during the relief.
A little something extra for when Mr. Biggins gets around to doing an opus on the Relief of Mafeking.
Regards to all
IL.

Ian,

RoM to the RGA must be very rare indeed.

I do plan a combined RoM/DoM roll but that is some time in the future.

May I include this image in the medal section please?

Many thanks

Ian,

I think there are only five other men in this section:

11071 Gnr Cowan
33638 Gnr Singer
30671 Gnr Wilson
Major Robinson
Lieut Hogarth

Hi

At £245 the Morgan pair was expensive 30 years ago. However, the exchange rate of R1.68 to the £ helped me to buy lots of good items!!

Yes of course, if you think it should be included. The five names you mention in your 17375 are those on the Kaplan roll. My CD of QSA to RA is currently not working very well (!) so I can't check it. I don't think 2x Officers and 3x (doubtless long-suffering) ORs would be enough to keep two 1pdr Pom Poms going and supplied. Suggest would be more if they can be identified.
I have some other pix relating to medals for the Defence and Relief of Mafeking if that would help.
Best regards
IL.

Always happy to give good items a home! Funny thing, the 1983 invoice did not mention Morgan's RofM clasp. That entitlement was a pretty scarce one back then. I always liked it, anyway.
Kind regards
IL.
