Good Afternoon Everyone.....

I have just obtained a QSA, no bars (as issued), named to Imperial Military Railways, T. W. Brewer.....

I have always been lead to believe that all the medals to IMR had "Mr." before the name can anyone confirm or not this statement????

Are the documents held in SA or in Kew as I would like to find out what he did for a living, i.e. Engineer etc.

WO100/252 shows him as a railway employee and confirms a no clasp medal, the three state clasps having been croosed out, there is a note which says "recovered from SA reissued to Brewer", the date given is the 23rd of February 1905, I'd have to spend a little time looking at this address, in addition the note in the remarks column.

There is a town in Newport called Griffithstown which, coincidentally, has a railway museum.

I cannot see any road called P**** terrace on a modern map though :(

There is a modern-day Picton Street.

It is interesting to note that there is area called Sebastopol in Griffithstown so a Picton Terrace is eminently possible.

Frank,

Do you think the Terrace part was a mistake?

I checked a 1901 directory and there were no businesses on Picton Terrace but Picton Street was included.

I can't find a 1901 streetmap to confirm.

Best wishes
David
