I should not venture to Braamfontein, without body armour!
Welcome to this forum by the way.

And may I add, only with the The Kings Troop of the Royal Horse Artillery as a bodyguard!

In case you can't find the necessary military back up, attached are a few pics.

Hello Adrian,
I saw an old friend on Saturday and he now tells me that even a trip to the graves at Chieveley cemetery would not be without it's dangers these days. :(

Hello Frank,

I go past Colenso on a regular basis and often stop off at Chieveley and Ambleside.

Never seen a sole at either on any of my visits but having said that I always keep the eyes peeled.

Hello Adrian,
Well I think I would too, moreover, if I did, I'd get to say hello to Freddy again as well! :)
Kind regards Frank

Hi Guys, I would like to thank everyone for there kind welcome messages and extremely interesting information, its a joy to join such a well run and welcoming forum.

The info so far has been excellent but I would still be very interested to know if any information may exist as to the circumstances of Pte Robinson's wounding and subsequent death. Frank has indicated that this may have occurred during the action at Witpoort, could anyone please add to this? Does a battalion war dairy or history exist that may shed some further light? Does any one know if a search at the archives at Kew will be worth it? I know that this can sometimes be fruitful for WW1 info but I don't know if similar records exist for Boer War actions.

Any further info would be great and I thank you all again

Best regards Paul :)
