Hi All

To cut a long story short I was fortunate to have given this medal by my brother in law after assisting him with a little family research. This medal was with his grandfathers and had no family connection so passed it on, I was rather chuffed.

Can anyone fill in the cracks as to what they did, I am not sure about their service? I cannot find them in this sites unit histories.

It would appear Pte A C Meyers medal bars are out of sequence BUT I was told some time back that the Transvaal Bar was approved later for these chaps, hence out of sequence.

Regards
Brian

Brian,

Cor Blimey. It's amazing what the forum throws up.

I don't think I've ever seen a QSA like this before and the naming looks pukka.

I'll do a little digging. Do you have the medal roll entry?

Best wishes,

Justin

Justin

I believe they were part of the Ceylon Planters Rifle Corps BUT cannot confirm this and do not have a Roll but would love to confirm this entitlement.

Hello Brian,
Meyer has three entries on the roll in WO100/183 his medal is on page 539, the Orange Free State and South Africa 1902 are on page 549 and his Transvaal is on page 543, in addition there is also a roll for the issue of medals and clasps, for Meyer the date is not shown.

Additional roll showing dates and where the medals were actually sent.
No details for your man.
