Hi All,

Could any one tell me how much a renamed KSA would be devalued by? I have been ofered 1 as original for £110 but it has clearly been renamed, thining of rim, wrong script ect, would like to make an offer but not as an original award.

I think it is worth nothing to a medal collector, except perhaps as a 'filler'. It may even be worth more as scrap silver. Perhaps you can use the silver price of the medal as the basis for negotiation.

I agree with Brett, worthless, unless officially renamed or part of a group and actually worn by the recipient himself.

luftleutnant,

Chris Dixon recently offered a correctly named single KSA in VF condition for £75 and one in fine condition for £65.

The value of the renamed KSA on offer should be the silver value as Brett suggests.

Can we work out the silver value of a KSA?

David

I couldn't easily find the weight of a KSA so weighed a no clasp QSA which came to 36g. The current price for silver is around 65p per gram making a no clasp KSA worth approximately £25.

Good morning David.
I assume the renamed KSA originally referred to would have both clasps so we cannot include those as they would have a separate value to any medal collector, but, yes I should think £25 would be about the right sort of scrap value.
