You are correct Frank. A 2 clasp QSA has a weight of 40g which equates to only £26 which is quite a shock when you consider what went into earning that silver and ably demonstrates why erasing the naming from a medal is such a shame.

Agreed, but as medal collectors we would have to take into account to value of a particular clasp, so if that two clasp renamed QSA had, say, a Defence of Mafeking clasp, then it would still have a very considerable value!

Thanks all, i will give it a miss, i thought even a renamed medal would be worth more than scrap value though. After all its still a piece of history.

DNW sold a renamed single KSA last year for £45 so there is a premium to be paid for the fact that it is a KSA and not a lump of silver and that is a small price to pay for a piece of history.
