George Percy Mullen was born in Williamstown, Victoria, Australia, on 18 March 1877 and attested for the 5th Victorian Mounted Rifles alongside his twin brother Clarence and his half-brother Leslie on 15 January 1901. The three brothers departed for South Africa on 15 February 1901, and were allocated to the right Wing, meaning they missed the massacre of the left Wing at Wilmansrust on 12 June 1901, but were present at Rhenoster Kop, Klippan, Kornfontein, Drivelfontein, Kambuladraai, H’Lobane, Luchiel’s Nek, Loch’s Kraal, Vryheid, Onverwacht, and Johnston Hoek. They departed Cape Town in early 1902, and arrived back at Melbourne on 26 March 1902. George Mullen died in Launceston, Tasmania, on 2 January 1947.
