Athonatos,
I would totally agree with you there!
Especially when a QSA is purchased and then you find that the recipient was Australian once more in-depth searches are made.

Agreed.

That's what happened to a medal I purchased to a member of Damants Horse (DoD). Turns out he was a Queenslander.

QSA (0) (437 Tpr. F.C.Westergaard. Victorian M.R.) Impressed. Toned very fine.

Ex D.Featherstone/L.McNaught Collection.

437 Francis Charles Westergaard served in 4th Imperial Contingent of Victorian Mounted Rifles. Recorded in Murray as Westerguard.

I have yet to locate this man on a QSA roll.

David
He is on WO100/291 page 90 as "Westergarde" (of the 4th Victorian Imperial Bushmen) and clasps CC/Rhod and probably SA1901.
As I mentioned some time ago re Victorian Colonial units, it is sometimes difficult to differentiate between men of VMR and VIB as the medal unit naming is just "Victorian M.R.".
Best regards
IL.
