Many thanks, so what sort of figure do you think we are talking about here?
I had always believed there would have been around half a million men under arms during the Boer War, the figure of 290,000 something does not seem high enough for me, but I would have thought a number of 375,000, perhaps 400,000 would fit the bill as far as I am concerned.
What do you think?

No, 290k is too low. I have no idea where the real figure will end up, until I add more names and begin to analyse what I have.
