I had a search on-line for the source document that the image came from but cannot find it :(

This is a current project - see www.boerwarregister.com .

There are 268,908 names listed so far. There will be duplicates, but numbered in the 100s, making this the best number so far of QSAs issued.

Large numbers of British regular army troops are yet to be recorded. I think the number of QSAs issued will be nearer 400,000.

By comparison, the medals awarded for other conflicts in Colonial Natal (Zulu War, 1906 Rebellion) are rare.

Brett,
You now only see Natal 1906's here very seldom, :( they have all but dried up, given the numbers issued I suppose we should not be surprised!
Kind regards Frank

I was pondering on this question and how the 1,008,109 Army records on the Ancestry site might be split between the three rolls; QSA, Supplementary and KSA.

How about this for a guess at the numbers:

QSA: 500,00 including 70,000 duplicates. Net 430,000
Supplementary: 205,000. 190,000 duplicates of QSA names. Net 15,000
KSA: 300,000. All duplicates of QSA names. Net zero

Do we have numbers for how many KSAs were issued?

Ancestry themselves would be able to see the split between QSA/Supplementary and KSA names so I will ask that question.
