It would be great to know the actual figures. The information is there on Ancestry and at the National Archives. It will just take us a few years to reach that point

Not if I get my finger out!

Duplicates: not sure how you got your figures but here are the classes of duplication I see for the main QSA roll:

Colonial units: anywhere from 2 to 6 units for a single man, common (soem units like the Scottish Horse had a high %age of veterans)
Corps (especially RAMC): many names duplicated

I have often wondered how the accepted figure of ca425,000 who served was calculated given the large number of duplicates there are.
