Also the 50,000 that were originally dated and were restruck for the shadow dates.....

Yes, Mike, agreed.

My numbers above include the bronze QSAs to Indians but exclude the Naval awards.

It would be great to know the actual figures. The information is there on Ancestry and at the National Archives. It will just take us a few years to reach that point :(

Not if I get my finger out!

Duplicates: not sure how you got your figures but here are the classes of duplication I see for the main QSA roll:

Colonial units: anywhere from 2 to 6 units for a single man, common (soem units like the Scottish Horse had a high %age of veterans)
Corps (especially RAMC): many names duplicated

I have often wondered how the accepted figure of ca425,000 who served was calculated given the large number of duplicates there are.
