Dear Forummers,
I have been asked by the granddaughter of Edward Francis Moore to try to find out as much as I can about him. Incredibly, his daughter, now 99 years old, is still alive and is said to be very excited. She told her daughter for the first time today that her father (Edward Moore) was arrested, and the family believe he must have done something wrong as he was reduced to rank.
So, any and all information would be most welcome. All we have to go on are these three medals:

QSA:
Trooper E Moore Damant’s Horse
Wittlebergen/Diamond Hill/Johannesburg/Driefontein/Paardeberg/Relief of Kimberley/Modder River/Belmont

KSA:
Scout E Moore F R D [EDIT: see below from Linneyl - probably should be FID]
South Africa 1902/South Africa 1901

Rhodesia 1896:
British South Africa Company
Trooper E Moore M R F

Many thanks in anticipation!
Rob

By "FRD" I take it you mean FID. The Buxton FID book does not add anything more than that a KSA was awarded (rank "scout"). WO100/244 page 47 for RG/DH confirms his clasps with some amendments made and has marginal note to the effect that he had subsequent service as 539 Tpr., J.M. Police and intelligence guide.
No additional info on BSACM in the Owen roll.

many thanks - FID it is - can you post images of the pages you found, for the family? Is JM Police Johannesburg Mounted Police? Any information about the actions his units saw in Rhodesia or SA? Could he have been a Jameson Raider?

Cracking group of medals. I assume still with the family?

Moore was indeed a Jameson Raider - see below

Yes, Johannesburg Mounted Police. There is no mention of Tpr.E.Moore of MRF being a Jameson Raider on the Owen roll; just entitlement to the 1896 medal. However, on another JR list I have, it shows that he returned to SA on the Roslyn Castle- occupation Prospector.
There really is not very much to post as far as images are concerned. WO100/244 p47 is already on this site and there was some adjustment to Tpr. E. Moore's clasps on it. Tomorrow I can post a pic of the Buxton FID/KSA entry and have a trawl through the pages to see if the compiler slipped up. Occasionally he has done.

Not a casualty or Prisoner but with that clasp combo, there is a very good chance he was at Sannah's Post (if you want to flesh the story out).
