1. From Find My Past: WO100/279 Civilian Officials in the Colonial Secretary's Department shows a certain William Osmond, a "Lock up Keeper" being "Employed as Scout, captured by B__? 13/9/0?" so I would think, Boers and 13th of September, perhaps 1900, but might be 1901.

I think he was descended from one of the pioneer families that arrived in the 1840s. Hope to see a write up on ABW Forum in the near future.
