Things seem to be routine and back to normal with his sailing on the 9th October 1900 crossing too.

Then, just like that, he vanishes for over a year. Returning to the R.M.S. Saxonia for the 4th March 1902 sailing under a new Captain. This new Captain also was awarded the Transport Medal with S. Africa 1899-1902 - but he'd get a lot more before he'd finished. James Clayton Barr CB as he would become, was master of the Carpathia, Mauretania and most famously Carmania.
