Charles Edward Hayward was born in Godalming, Surrey, in 1875, and died in Kimberley, South Africa, in 1955.

Note: Mentioned in Earl Roberts despatches 10th September 1901. Born in Holloway, London and enlisted 25.7.1894 age 18 years and trade as a carman. He had previous service in the 4th battalion Middlesex regiment. Served South Africa 6th October 1899 to 6th October 1902. Discharged 12th December 1912 having served 18 years, 146 days.
