William Frederick Strong (4559), Sergeant E Co., 10 Jan 1900 to 31 Mar 1901. Awarded DCM for Rooikoppies 06 Sept 1900, MID by Buller 9 Sep 1900. SK 18 Apr 1901, LG 8 Feb 1901 & 10 Sep 1901, AO 163/01.

QSA (6) CC, TugH, OFS, RoL, TvL, LNek (354 Serjt. J. Laing. Thorneycroft’s M.I.)

Medal and 6 bars issued to John Laing at Cape Town 29.4.05.

Served in Thorneycroft’s Mounted Infantry from 4.11.99 to 27.1.01 when discharged at own request.

Later served as a Private in Railway Pioneer Regiment from 7 August 1901 to 4 March 1902.
