QSA (2) South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (2561 Tpr. C. R. Young, Natal Police.)

A rather scarce example of the Queen's Medal & 2 date clasps to a Natal unit who were routinely denied the King's Medal as it was determined the war in Natal had ended in 1901.

I have yet to locate this man on the roll.

The medal to 2561 Tpr C R Young is verified on WO100/261p182.

This one page lists 10 combinations of SA01 and SA02 to the Natal Police.

Natal (1) (2 C. SGT: E. LUTLEY, NATAL POLICE).

It is great that C&T include a picture of the naming.

The medal to Quack hammered for £260 without the add-ons. Granted he was DoD but why such a handsome price? Was it the uniqueness of the surname? Early days but this might lead me to reassess the value of some of the NP medals and groups I have.

Rory,
I bid myself on this one, but it went for more than I'd have wanted to pay!
Berenice posted a biography and memorial site for Robert Quack some time ago. An interesting read.
I was hoping that I might add his QSA to my collection but it was not to be.
Cheers Steve
