Medals to Colonial outfits who fought at Elandslaagte are not easy to come by - here is one I have recently acquired to Tpr. D. Scully of the N.M.R. who was at Elandslaagte and then caught up in the Defence of Ladysmith.
The N.M.R. history has it that he was invalided out for the rest of the war which would explain the SA 1901 clasp. I have a QSA to the Durban Light Infantry to an Alexander Scully whom I supect is Scully's brother or cousin.

A superb and very scarce medal, I note his Elandslaagte clasp was issued to the Commandant Natal Militia on the 23rd of April 1908, a very good medal and a most appropriate time of year to add it to a collection.
Just think - 117 years ago on this very day in few hours from now he would have been under fire from the Boers with heart pounding and nerves frayed wondering, as did they all, whether they would live to see the fall of night let alone tomorrow.
