Hello Rory,
You know what, I've been meaning to say this for some time now, what I like about you, is simply that, in the one hand, you will buy a very common medal, think nothing whatsoever about a place in your collection, for it and at the same time, in the other hand, you will buy a very rare medal, yet, you will treat them both in exactly the same way, very few people, certainly from my own experience, actually bother do that.
Again, a really superb medal.
Regards Frank.

Thank you for your comments Frank. Truth be told they are all one and the same to me - the good and the great. What I mean by that is that, in my opinion, they were all men fighting for a common cause with, very often, the only thing separating them being circumstance - possibly the unit they chose to join or the battle in which they found themselves.

In my view there is no QSA or its recipient which doesn't warrant attention. Very often the most mundane medal can have a very interesting story behind it and therein, for me, lies the fun part.

Regards

Rory

Went for the proverbial "song" in my humble opinion.

I agree (again). A very reasonable price for the trio.

You would, of course, need to actually have the money in the first place, but, given the relative scarcity of the South Africa War medal and 1879 clasp these days, in particular, the now very noticeable lack of these medals in the retail marketplace, you could go out and simply buy a dozen in a single afternoon twenty years ago, I suppose the winning bid could fairly be seen as a bargain.
