Any idea why this one fetched such a commanding price?

No. It was one of the more surprising results in a day not without surprises.

This is quite disconcerting.... I have some medals to Murray's Horse - one to a Varty and another to a Clouston (the chap on whose farm an engagement was fought and where there are a number of graves and memorials)

How does one go about determining a value when a medal like Button's comes out of left-field to muddy the waters? I may have missed something but there was nothing to especially recommend this particular medal to the bidding public.
