The Escort Bacon Factory (telegraphic address - 'squeal') in Estcourt, Natal, once made Melton Mowbray pork pies and I ate many of them. The local Spar supermarket in the town where I now live sells very poor imitations.

Did they actually call them "Melton Mowbray" pies?
I can see potential legal action here!

Frank

In the days of my youth when Natal was known as "the last outpost of the British Empire", they did indeed call them Melton Mowbray pies but, subsequently, after Natal's populace largely changed its allegiance, there was a fuss about the name and it was dropped.

Hello Brett,
Glad tidings indeed, they do have geographical protection, when you use the word "was" I do get rather concerned, to me, it still "is"
Kind regards Frank

Hello Adrian,
I would think you have enjoyed today rather more than I have, I trust the meeting went well, what was on the agenda today?
I am surprised you still have Westville and it has not been renamed.
Kind regards Frank

Hello Frank,

I have just arrived home. We had a superb afternoon at Mike Conradies home in Westville.

Brian x2, Brett, Mike, Tinus etc were there as well as Anthony from Australia and Chris from DNW in the UK which was great. Chris put on a superb slide show and backed it up with the medals. We all had a slot to discuss a couple of groups and then relaxed with a few pints.

A very enjoyable afternoon indeed.

Regards
Adrian
