Hello Everyone

Here is a very spectacular medal known as the Lord Roberts, British Empire Medal issued in 1901. I have shown a British 1 Pound coin to illustrate the size of the medallion. The medal is in high relief and the detail and workmanship is just so superb. It must have taken the artist a long time to complete the engraving of this piece. The medal comes in the original box of issue which is quite RARE and the box is also a work of art. This has to be one of the most beautiful medallions ever made and issued.

The medal was issued to honour Lord Roberts for his role in the South African War.

REF: Hern 154
SIZE: 101mm
METAL: Gold, Silver, Bronze
MINTAGE: GOLD = 2, SILVER = 50, BRONZE=150

I have shown here both the Silver and Bronze variety.

A silver version of this medal sold last week at City Coins for R20,350 or £1,450.

That's a shame, Mike. Is this one going to stay on the wishlist for a bit longer?

Hi David.....

Yes I think it will......

But then again acording to my records there has NEVER been a Incorporated Law Society Medal up for sale......

The nice thing aswell is that Hibbard has a list of all the medals awarded / struck a total of 176 and to whom they were awarded and now I am going to have to find a medal to go with it.......
