Hello everybody,

my Great-Grandfather served in the Boer War with the Rifle Brigade, 1st Battalion. His clasps are Orange Free State, Laing´s Nek, Transvaal, Relief of Ladysmith, Tugela Heights and Cape Colony. I am looking forward to researching his Battalion´s history.

Hello Mike,

thank you for your reply. My ggf was called Henry William (Harry) Swann (born 1873 in London) and his medals are inscribed with 1093 Pte H. Swann Rifle Brigade.

Hi Again Stephen......

Just did a quick check in FMP and he is not listed there but that does not mean anything...... Maybe someone who is on Ancestry can do a check also......

Hi Swanny, having read your draft we have something in common, namely, my Gf served in all your mentioned campaigns that your Gf served with except the Cape Colony, he was with the 2nd Battalion West Yorkshire Regt love to hear about his reported tails/stories covering those areas in S.A that my Gf served
