Lance Corporal Walter Henry Orbell (4028) was my fourth cousin three times removed. Born in 1879, he was the fourth eldest of 11 children and grew up in Cambridgeshire, England. He enlisted in 1898 and served with the 10th Hussars - later he was attached to the 6th Dragoons.

He was wounded at Brandfort in May 1900 and taken prisoner at Uniondance in August1901. He later re-joined his Regiment and was KIA in Klipfontein on 12 December 1901.

He was awarded the QSA (Paardeberg, Driefontein, Belfast and Relief of Kimberley) and the KSA.

Thanks to Brian I now know he's buried at Clanwilliam.
