Hi everyone,

I am new to this site but am an experienced Genealogist. I have in my possession an enrollment card of my Great Uncle who served in the Boer war and yet I find no mention of him here. I guess we cannot expect ALL who took part in the war to be recognised on this site so for your information, I have included a photo of the card.

Good morning, welcome here,
Erich Wronsky did indeed serve in Marshall's Horse, interestingly, his medal and clasp appear to have been returned on the 5th of January 1909.

Hi Frank,
Do you know to whom they were returned?

Thanks,
Denise

Hello Denise,
They would have been returned to the mint here, I'm thinking that you are in South Africa?

Hi Frank, yes, I live in Pretoria. Would I be able to get them back?

Hello Denise,
No, I don't think you would and I doubt if the actual medal even exists now, many were actually renamed and then issued again.
Of course, many medals "found" their way out and do exist in collections
The Government here does not normally issue medals to second or third generations.
Kind regards Frank
