Were any medals issued to this crowd? I've been offered a medal to a chap who served with them, although the QSA is named to another unit, the medal roll confirms it.

Regards

Rory

The older members of the Forum will remember this chap - Robert Adolph Wilton Morley. An actor who starred in Who is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? Why is he relevant? Because his father Major Robert Wilton Morley had the distinction of raising a small but select band of men called (what else..) Morley's Scouts. No known medals were ever issued off a roll to this unit and any member who served with them is, to my knowledge, unknown. That was until this pair arrived today...

Claude Felix Redmond served with the Uitenhage Volunteer Rifles, Kitchener's Fighting Scouts, Rand Rifles and Morley's Scouts (QSA named to UVR), going on to serve in the Bambatha Rebellion of 1906 with the specially formed Transvaal Mounted Rifles. If anyone has any information on Morley's Scouts I would be in your debt were you to pass it on.

Seems like Morley's and Menne's Scouts worked closely together patrolling the railway.
The only casualties for Morley's scouts are listed below which included Mr Morley himself.
No other entries in the SAFF records regarding Morley casualties or actions.
